Yakisugi DADU AWNING

Ryno’s DADU was finally completed and needed one more element - a covering for the french doors, and place to sit outside in the rain.

This build showcases what we mean by doing it “Dino-style” : from rooftop to column bases, every element is custom designed to provide longevity, beauty, charm, at an alarmingly good value.

The timber frame is crafted out of Douglas Fir lumber, and treated by charring the surface and sealing with boiled linseed oil - the traditional Japanese process of Yakisugi. Above the frame is decking of solid 2x6 tongue and groove, which serves as the finished ceiling as well as the foundation for the cedar shingle roofing.

If you want a unique piece like this, that has neighbors stopping by to give complements, just say is “lets do this Dino-Style”.
